Human Rights: Are Democratic Nations Upholding a Better Standard?
This was the latest European Leadership Conference co-sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and held in the UK Parliament. UPF is a partner of Parliament Week and this was one of a series of events during the week. Sessions were kindly hosted by Mr. Virendra Sharma MP (UPF – UK Patron), Rt. Hon. Baroness Sandip Verma, Deputy Parliamentary Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ms. Seema Malhotra MP and Professor Lord Bhikhu Parekh.‘Lord Parekh’s Comments on Human Rights in Democratic Nations’ – “Professor Lord Bhikhu Parekh, Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Westminster, brought a more philosophical perspective on human rights as he delivered a speech that invoked a great deal of contemplation on the topic of human rights and democracy as a whole.” – Read more
